Running the Bristol Half Marathon

Today could be my last day. It's Bristol Half Marathon day, and I'm up at 6am to get a big breakfast and get myself ready for the grueling 13 mile run.

This is going to be a REALLY tough challenge. I'll post when I return to let you know how bad it really was.. If you don't see anything.. I didn't make it :-)

I made it!!

Didn't do too badly either considering I've never run so far in my life. My previous furthest was about 6 miles, so this was a shock to the system! I found it incredibly hard once I hit the 8 mile mark. At that point my calves started to seaze up, and from then on it was just incredibly uncomfortable the rest of the way. I was actually doing well time wise until that point, and then had to slow down to avoid getting a crippling cramp. No way was I not going to finish the run, so the rest of the way was mixed up between running and walking, and the only way to stay in the game.

I managed to finish in 2hours and 22 mins. It's neither fast nor slow, but pretty good considering I never really did any training, I'm really pleased with it.

I have to say though. This evening.. I ache, like I never ached before. Just my legs (probably the rest of my body distracted by the pain in my knees mainly, but.. boy are they agony if I actually move around.
